PRO 9 Intensifies Campaign Against Loose Firearms; High-Powered Weapons Seized in Titay Raid
with Press Release from PRO 9Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – In a significant blow to the proliferation of illegal weaponry in the region, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 9 successfully executed a search warrant in Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, resulting in the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of several high-powered firearms.
The operation, conducted at approximately 12:30 a.m. on December 16, 2025, focused on a residence in Purok Sweet Rose, Barangay Kitabog, Titay. The raid was carried out by a composite team led by the Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, in coordination with the ZSBPIT, Regional Intelligence Unit 9, and the Titay Municipal Police Station.

The search warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 9 (Family Court), for violations of Republic Act No. 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
As a result, a 46-year-old male resident was taken into custody during the operation. Law enforcement officers recovered the following items from the premises:
• One (1) Colt AR-15/M16 5.56mm Rifle with 25 rounds of live ammunition.
• One (1) Ingram 9mm Submachine Gun with eight rounds of live ammunition.
• One (1) Caliber .45 Magazine with three rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect was apprised of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine and was subsequently transported to the Titay Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of appropriate legal charges.
This operation is part of PRO 9’s broader, intelligence-driven strategy to eliminate "loose firearms" that contribute to criminality and instability within the Zamboanga Peninsula and the province of Sulu.
