1,000 Tree Seedlings Planted in Titay Through Philippine Red Cross–Rotary Environmental Initiative
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Ipil and several government agencies and civic organizations, successfully conducted a tree-planting activity on Saturday, July 25, planting a total of 1,000 tree seedlings in Sitio Mahayag, Barangay Culasian, Titay.
The environmental initiative saw volunteers planting a variety of indigenous and environmentally beneficial species, including smooth narra, bayog, and malugai, as part of ongoing efforts to help restore forest cover, promote biodiversity, and strengthen climate resilience in the province.
Despite intermittent rains and overcast skies, volunteers from different sectors turned out in full force, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation. Organizers said the unfavorable weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of participants, who worked together to ensure the successful completion of the activity.
The tree-planting drive highlighted the importance of collaboration among humanitarian organizations, local government units, uniformed personnel, youth groups, and community volunteers in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.
The Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter expressed its gratitude to all partner organizations that contributed to the success of the activity, including Bukas Loob sa Diyos (BLD) – Ipil DIP, the Philippine Army, Rotary Club of Ipil, Rotaract, Interact, DeMolay, the Local Government Unit of Titay, Pathfinder Estate Hospital, Red Cross Youth (RCY) volunteers, and the Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga Sibugay staff and volunteers.
Organizers emphasized that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to protecting the environment and encouraging communities to take an active role in preserving natural resources.
The Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga Sibugay Chapter said the activity serves as a reminder that collective action can create lasting environmental impact, with every tree planted contributing to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for the next generation.
