BFP Region IX Strengthens Inter-Agency Readiness for KALASAG ZAMPEN Territorial Defense Exercise
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region IX reinforced its commitment to inter-agency cooperation and regional preparedness as it participated in the Regional-Level Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operations Coordination Meeting held on July 20, 2026, at the headquarters of the 102nd Infantry (Igsoon) Brigade, Philippine Army, Barangay Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The activity brought together representatives from various uniformed services, national government agencies, and media partners as part of the preparations for the upcoming KALASAG ZAMPEN Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operation Exercise scheduled on August 20, 2026.
The coordination meeting aimed to strengthen operational collaboration, enhance interoperability among participating agencies, and establish a unified response framework to ensure the effective implementation of the territorial defense exercise.

Among the participating agencies were representatives from the Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection, and other government organizations involved in disaster response, security, emergency management, and public information operations.
Representing BFP Region IX, FSUPT Reggy A. Olmedo, DSC, Acting Provincial Fire Marshal of Zamboanga Sibugay, presented the Bureau’s operational capabilities, highlighting its firefighting resources, emergency response equipment, personnel readiness, and accomplishments in promoting fire safety and disaster preparedness.
Olmedo also showcased the achievements of BFP Zamboanga Sibugay and BFP Region IX, emphasizing the Bureau’s vital role in emergency response operations and its continuing efforts to strengthen public safety measures through effective coordination with partner agencies.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from participating organizations to maximize their respective capabilities, enhance coordination mechanisms, and ensure the successful conduct of the KALASAG ZAMPEN Territorial Defense Operation Exercise.
Through stronger partnerships and a whole-of-government approach, BFP Region IX continues to support initiatives that promote preparedness, protect communities, and contribute to a safer and more resilient Region IX.
