Makilas Fire Victims Receive Immediate Aid from LGU–Ipil
IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay, April 14, 2026- Less than 24 hours after a fire struck a residential area in Barangay Makilas, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ipil mobilized immediate assistance for affected families, providing much-needed relief as they begin to recover from the incident.
Through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), the LGU promptly conducted an initial assessment and relief operation for the victims. A total of 17 households, comprising an estimated 70 individuals, were identified as affected by the fire.
Relief distribution was carried out the day after the incident, with each family receiving essential items to help them cope with their immediate needs. These included a sack of rice, kitchen utensils, assorted grocery items, and sleeping kits such as mats and blankets.
Municipal officials said the quick response was part of the LGU’s effort to ensure that families displaced by the fire would not be left without basic necessities during the critical first days following the incident.

Mayor Ramses Troy Olegario expressed his sympathy for the affected residents, emphasizing the importance of extending immediate support during such difficult times. He added that while the incident brought hardship to many families, he is grateful that no lives were lost despite the tragedy.
The mayor also assured that the local government is closely coordinating with concerned offices to determine additional support that may be extended, including possible shelter assistance and further relief aid.
The LGU of Ipil reiterated its commitment to stand with the victims as they rebuild their lives, highlighting the importance of community cooperation and swift government response in times of disaster.
