Ipil Goes Cashless: Palengke-QR PH Plus Now Fully Implemented
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay - The municipality of Ipil has officially joined the growing roster of local governments embracing digital payments with the successful launch of the Palengke-QR PH Plus Program on December 11, 2025.
Following the launch, LGU officials led by Mayor Ramses Troy Olegario conducted on-site visits to the Ipil Public Market to assess the readiness of vendors in using their newly assigned QR codes. Many vendors have already registered and set up their digital payment accounts, reflecting strong support for the shift to cashless transactions.
Mayor Olegario has been actively pushing for this initiative, inspired by the belief that digital payment systems can also significantly help reduce opportunities for corruption in government transactions. He emphasized that strengthening transparency and accountability is a key priority of his administration.
The Palengke-QR PH Plus is a nationwide program enabling consumers to pay using QR Ph codes, accessible through any participating bank or e-wallet. With this system, customers can simply scan a vendor’s QR code to complete their purchases quickly, securely, and without the need for cash.
