PDRRMC on High Alert as Rising River Levels Threaten Flooding in Diplahan, Imelda, and Siay
IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Zamboanga Sibugay has intensified monitoring and preparedness measures amid the possible threat of flooding in several municipalities following the continuous rise of water levels in major rivers due to the effects of Supertyphoon Inday.
Governor Ann K. Hofer has been closely monitoring the developing situation and has directed the PDRRMC to strengthen coordination, intensify monitoring efforts, and ensure that all necessary preparations are in place to protect communities that may be affected by possible flooding.
Authorities are closely watching the rising water levels of the Ditay River and Sibugay River, which have increased due to heavy rainfall brought by the typhoon. The situation has raised concerns over a possible release of excess water from Gaulan Dam, which could further aggravate flooding risks in downstream areas.

The municipalities of Diplahan, Imelda, and Siay have been placed on alert as local government units (LGUs) prepare for the possibility of flooding. Disaster response teams are being mobilized, while concerned offices continue monitoring vulnerable communities, particularly those located near riverbanks, low-lying areas, and flood-prone zones.
The PDRRMC has coordinated with municipal disaster risk reduction and management offices to strengthen preparedness actions, including pre-emptive response planning, monitoring of critical areas, and readiness for possible evacuation operations should water levels continue to rise.
Residents in affected and high-risk areas are advised to remain vigilant, closely monitor official advisories, and cooperate with local authorities. Families living in vulnerable areas are encouraged to prepare for possible evacuation if conditions require immediate action.
The rising water levels of the Ditay River and Sibugay River are among the impacts being monitored following the heavy rains brought by Supertyphoon Inday. Continuous rainfall has increased the volume of water flowing into major waterways, raising concerns over potential flooding in communities downstream of the river systems.
Governor Hofer reiterated the importance of proactive disaster preparedness and emphasized the need for swift coordination among provincial and municipal authorities to ensure the safety of residents.
