The initiative was formally launched through a collaboration among the Department of Health (DOH), the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), and the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Sur as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare services and reduce the financial burden of medical treatment on patients.
The PhilHealth GAMOT Program is an enhanced benefit package under the YAKAP Program that provides qualified PhilHealth members and their eligible dependents with up to ₱20,000 worth of free essential medicines annually for outpatient treatment. The program aims to ensure continuous access to prescribed medications, particularly for patients managing chronic and long-term health conditions.
