IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – The municipality of Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay is honoring its late mayor, Randy A. Climaco, on his 10th death anniversary by renaming the municipal sports complex after him.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Tungawan recently passed an ordinance to officially name the facility from Tungawan Sports Complex to "Randy A. Climaco Municipal and Memorial Sports Complex." The measure, authored by Councilor Arvie Arcillas, was unanimously approved to recognize the former mayor's "remarkable contributions" during his incumbency.

In a Facebook post, Climaco's widow, Councilor Rosalie Climaco, expressed her gratitude to Arcillas for what she called as a meaningful legislative measure. The councilor, now on her third term, called the ordinance a "true honor and a lasting tribute" to her late husband.

Mayor Climaco was ambushed and killed on the afternoon of October 12, 2015, while serving his third and final term. The attack occurred just after he had filed his certificate of candidacy for vice mayor in the 2016 elections. He was traveling from Barangay Batungan after attending a meeting with barangay captains when his vehicle was attacked.
