Wanted Farmer Arrested in Tungawan for Qualified Rape of Minor

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – A 49-year-old farmer wanted for Qualified Rape of Minor was arrested during a joint intelligence-driven law enforcement operation conducted by police and military personnel in Barangay Santo Niño, Tungawan, on June 25.

The operation, carried out at around 2:30 a.m., was led by the tracker team of the Tungawan Municipal Police Station (MPS) under the supervision of Police Captain Abdul-Basser H. Abdurajak, Officer-in-Charge, in coordination with the 903rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 (RMFB-9), Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and the 106th Bravo Company of the Philippine Army.

Authorities served a warrant of arrest against the suspect, a married resident of Purok 6, Barangay Santo Niño, Tungawan, who is facing charges for Qualified Rape of Minor.

Police said the operation resulted in the successful apprehension of the accused without any untoward incident.

Following his arrest, the suspect was informed of the nature of the charge against him, as well as his constitutional rights and rights under the Anti-Torture Act, in a language known and understood by him.

The accused was subsequently brought to the Tungawan Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition before being turned over to the appropriate court for further legal proceedings.

The arrest forms part of the continuing campaign of the Zamboanga Sibugay police against wanted persons, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensure that individuals facing criminal charges are brought before the courts to answer for their alleged offenses.
