Ipil LGU Strengthens Bird Flu Advisory, Urges Continued Vigilance Among Poultry Raisers
IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ipil has renewed its call for vigilance as monitoring efforts for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) or bird flu remain ongoing in parts of Zamboanga Sibugay.
The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) continues to conduct surveillance following earlier cases reported in May 2026. Authorities noted that the affected areas have not yet been declared fully cleared, making sustained preventive measures necessary to avoid any possible resurgence.
The Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Ipil urged poultry raisers and residents to actively cooperate with ongoing containment efforts, stressing that community participation is vital in protecting both animal health and local livelihoods.

Poultry owners were advised to immediately report any unusual deaths or signs of illness among chickens, ducks, and other birds, and to avoid handling sick or dead poultry without proper protection. The public was likewise discouraged from transporting or selling poultry coming from areas with suspected infection.
Officials also emphasized the importance of maintaining strict biosecurity standards, including proper sanitation of poultry areas, limiting unnecessary exposure to birds, and safe disposal of dead livestock to prevent contamination.
The LGU underscored that prompt reporting of suspected cases allows veterinary authorities to respond quickly and implement necessary control measures to contain potential spread.
