Provincial Health Office Brings Free Medical and Dental Services to Alicia Communities

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, August 13, 2026 — The Provincial Health Office of Zamboanga Sibugay brought essential healthcare services closer to residents of Barangays Naga-Naga and Litayon in Alicia through a Medical and Dental Outreach Mission conducted on August 12, 2026.

The outreach formed part of the province’s continuing efforts to make basic healthcare more accessible, particularly for residents in communities where access to medical and dental services may be limited by distance and other challenges.

A total of 300 patients availed themselves of free medical consultations during the activity. Beneficiaries also received medicines and vitamins as part of the health assistance extended by the provincial government.

Meanwhile, 34 patients benefited from free dental extraction, providing much-needed dental care to residents who may otherwise have difficulty accessing or affording such services.

Beyond providing immediate treatment, the outreach also served as an avenue for health professionals to engage directly with community members, assess their health concerns, and provide appropriate medical advice and interventions.

The provincial health team expressed its appreciation to Governor Ann K. Hofer for her continued support of programs that bring healthcare services closer to communities across Zamboanga Sibugay. Her administration’s support has helped facilitate initiatives aimed at ensuring that residents, particularly those in underserved areas, have better access to essential health services.

The success of the outreach was also made possible through the cooperation of the local government of Alicia. Municipal Mayor Ardin B. Musa, Al-Haj., personally graced the activity and extended support to the visiting medical and dental team and the beneficiaries.

The Alicia Rural Health Unit (RHU) likewise played an important role in the conduct of the outreach. Its personnel worked alongside the provincial health team to ensure the smooth delivery of services and assistance to residents.

The activity highlighted the importance of collaboration among the provincial government, municipal government, local health workers, and the community in addressing healthcare needs at the grassroots level.

For residents who often have to travel to access medical or dental services, the presence of healthcare professionals in their own communities provides not only immediate assistance but also reassurance that public health services are being brought closer to them.

The Provincial Health Office emphasized that accessible healthcare is best achieved through sustained collaboration and community-based initiatives. By taking medical and dental services directly to the barangays, the province continues to strengthen its commitment to making healthcare more inclusive and responsive to the needs of its people.
