Dr. George T. Hofer Medical Center Marks 52nd Nutrition Month, Promotes Healthy Living and Environmental Stewardship
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Dr. George Tocao Hofer Medical Center (DGTHMC) joined the nationwide celebration of the 52nd Nutrition Month by conducting a series of educational and wellness activities that underscored the vital link between proper nutrition and environmental conservation.
Carrying this year's official sub-theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!", the celebration highlighted the role of a healthy environment in ensuring food security, sustainable agriculture, and improved nutrition for present and future generations.
Hospital officials emphasized that protecting forests, rivers, oceans, and agricultural lands is essential to producing safe, nutritious, and sustainable food, making environmental stewardship a key component of public health.
The celebration featured a Nutrition Talk, an interactive Question-and-Answer Session, and a lively Nutrition Zumba Dance, encouraging hospital personnel and participants to adopt healthier lifestyles through proper nutrition and regular physical activity.
To conclude the program, participants shared a warm serving of arroz caldo, symbolizing the importance of simple, nutritious meals in promoting overall health and well-being.
The activity formally opened with welcome remarks from Acting Chief Nurse Mr. Niel Esquillo, who emphasized the importance of proper nutrition as the foundation of a healthy and productive life.

The program's highlight was the nutrition lecture delivered by Chief Nutritionist Ms. Rio Grace Falcone, who discussed the importance of balanced nutrition and challenged healthcare workers to become role models by practicing the healthy lifestyles they advocate to patients and the community.
The interactive discussion was moderated by Hospital Nutritionist Ms. Marilyn Sarcena, who facilitated the question-and-answer portion, allowing participants to exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of nutrition-related concerns.
Hospital officials said the observance reflects the institution's continuing commitment to promoting preventive healthcare by encouraging healthier eating habits, active living, and greater awareness of the relationship between environmental protection and nutrition.
The celebration also supports the vision of Governor Ann K. Hofer to strengthen public health programs and improve the nutritional well-being of Sibugaynons through collaborative and community-centered health initiatives.
