Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay— The Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay has been recognized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for its support to the agency, earning the BIR Kaagapay Award during the bureau’s 122nd anniversary celebration on July 31, 2026.

The award was presented by BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza during ceremonies held at the Revenue Development and Leisure Center inside the BIR National Office Compound in Diliman, Quezon City.

Governor Ann K. Hofer, accompanied by Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Anna Liza Gonzales, accepted the recognition on behalf of the provincial government.

The BIR cited Zamboanga Sibugay for its generous donation of property to the revenue agency, describing the provincial government’s contribution as a significant gesture of support that would help strengthen the BIR’s operations and its ability to deliver services.

The recognition puts particular emphasis on the province’s willingness to make its resources available to support another government institution. By providing property for BIR use, the provincial government has helped create a stronger operational foundation for the agency as it carries out its tax administration and revenue collection functions.

For Gov. Hofer, the distinction highlights her administration’s continuing effort to build productive working relationships with national government agencies.

Rather than viewing provincial resources solely within the boundaries of local government programs, the governor’s administration has also pursued initiatives that support government institutions whose work directly affects residents, businesses and communities in Zamboanga Sibugay.

The BIR Kaagapay Award is therefore not simply a recognition of a property donation. It reflects the value of government agencies supporting one another to improve public service.

The honor also provides another milestone for Hofer’s administration, which has placed emphasis on strengthening partnerships and improving the delivery of government programs under her development agenda for the province.

Receiving the award in the national capital, Hofer represented Zamboanga Sibugay in an event celebrating the BIR’s more than a century of service. The recognition brought the province into the spotlight for a contribution that, while involving property, is ultimately aimed at strengthening public institutions and improving government service.

For the Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay, the award serves as an affirmation that good governance is also about cooperation—sharing resources, building partnerships and helping fellow government institutions better serve the public.

Under Gov. Hofer’s leadership, the BIR Kaagapay Award adds another distinction to Zamboanga Sibugay’s growing record of recognition for its efforts in public administration and institutional development.
