SLC 1 Emerges as Runaway Provincial Champion in 2026 Provincial Meet Dancesport Competition

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – Grace, precision, and undeniable chemistry on the dance floor propelled SLC 1 to a dominant victory at the 2026 Provincial Meet Dancesport Competition being held in the Municipality of Alicia, where the team emerged as the runaway provincial champion in the Secondary category Representing Surabay Senior High School, the team delivered a flawless performance across both the Modern Standard and Latin American divisions, sweeping all ten events and securing gold medals in every category.

In the Modern Standard division, John Renz Gapor and Precious Evangelista demonstrated elegance, control, and refined technique as they captured first place in the Slow Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, and Quickstep. Their strong partnership, graceful lines, and impeccable timing impressed both judges and spectators, setting the tone for the team’s dominant performance.

In the Latin American division, Rafael Josh Godinez and Paris Arbea Loreno brought energy and intensity to the floor, claiming victories in Samba, Cha-cha-cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive. Their expressive movements, powerful rhythm, and dynamic choreography electrified the crowd and solidified SLC 1’s clean sweep of the competition.

The team’s remarkable achievement was guided by a committed coaching staff. Coach Maryjane Ellorge, who handled the Modern Standard division, focused on perfecting technique, posture, and synchronization which are key elements that shaped the pair’s polished routines.

Coach Jufin Jansor, in charge of the Latin American division, developed high-energy performances that showcased the dancers’ versatility and emotional expression. Supporting the team was seasoned and champion trainer Ar-Ar Edrial, whose conditioning and technical guidance ensured the dancers were physically and mentally prepared for the demanding competition.

With their sweeping victory, SLC 1 advances to the Regional Qualifiers as the province’s official representatives. Their triumph not only brings pride to Surabay Senior High School but also highlights the growing strength of dancesport in the province. Through discipline, teamwork, and unwavering dedication, SLC 1 proved that excellence is achieved through hard work and passion. As they prepare for the regional stage, they carry with them the pride and support of an entire community inspired by their extraordinary performance.
