15 Chinese men undergo verification after reported surrender in Alicia
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay — Fifteen Chinese nationals reportedly surrendered in Barangay Tandiong Muslim, Alicia, on Monday afternoon, October 12, and were brought to the police station for documentation and verification.
According to local residents, the group was taken away in a police vehicle following their reported surrender. The reason behind their decision to surrender has not been disclosed.
The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office said police responded to information provided by the municipal mayor regarding the presence of foreign nationals in the barangay.
Police identified the group as 15 Chinese men aged 25 to 51. After documentation, they underwent medical examinations at the Alicia Rural Health Unit.
Authorities said the group would be turned over to the Bureau of Immigration for further processing.
Authorities have yet to clarify whether the 15 Chinese nationals are connected to the earlier cases.
