PLGU and LGU Ipil Extend Financial Aid to Fire Victims in Makilas-Ipil

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, April 14, 2026 — Local government units in Zamboanga Sibugay have united to provide immediate financial assistance earlier today to families affected by the fire that hit Barangay Makilas on April 14, 2026.

A total of 16 households, covering 21 families, were displaced by the incident, prompting a swift response focused on delivering direct monetary aid to help victims recover.

Governor Ann K. Hofer, along with Vice Governor Ric-Ric Olegario, personally visited the affected residents and distributed ₱5,000 cash assistance to each family, in addition to relief goods from the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU-Sibugay).

Meanwhile, the Municipal Government of Ipil, led by Mayor Ramses Troy Olegario, also extended an additional ₱5,000 cash assistance per family, effectively doubling the financial support provided to the victims.

Local officials emphasized that the priority is to ensure that affected families receive immediate financial relief, enabling them to address urgent needs and begin rebuilding their lives after the tragedy.

Aside from the monetary aid, the day after the incident, the LGU-Ipil also distributed essential items such as toiletries, canned goods, and sleeping kits to support the families during the initial phase of recovery.
