Ipil , Zamboanga Sibugay, April 17, 2026 — The Municipal Economic Enterprise Development Office (MEEDO) has updated the Public Market Price Monitoring Board at the Ipil Public Market yesterday, reinforcing efforts to provide consumers with clear, accurate, and up-to-date information on the prices of basic commodities.

The initiative aims to strengthen transparency and consumer awareness by giving the public reliable guidance on prevailing market prices, helping shoppers make informed decisions and manage their daily household budgets amid fluctuating costs of goods. As part of the activity, MEEDO also installed and reinforced the Timbangan ng Bayan (Weighing Scale for the People), following the inspection and calibration of vendors’ weighing scales to ensure fairness and accuracy in all market transactions.

Officials said the program is part of the local government’s continuing effort to protect consumers from unfair pricing practices and underweight products, while promoting accountability among market vendors.

MEEDO further announced that it will maintain regular price monitoring and updates, especially during periods of significant price changes influenced by fuel cost fluctuations, which directly affect the supply and distribution of goods in local markets.

Consumers are encouraged to regularly check the Public Market Price Monitoring Board when visiting the market to ensure that the products they purchase are fairly priced and accurately weighed.

The local government emphasized that the initiative supports both consumer welfare and market stability, reinforcing trust and transparency in the trading environment at the public market.
