RAMON MAGSAYSAY AWARDEE KA DODOY BALLON TO ADDRESS CROWD AT TRILLION PESO MARCH AGAINST CORRUPTION
IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Roberto “Ka Dodoy” Ballon, a nationally respected environmental leader and fisherfolk advocate, is set to deliver a keynote message during the Trillion Peso March Against Corruption in Manila tomorrow.
Ka Dodoy is expected to highlight the billions of pesos allegedly lost to anomalous flood-control projects and the continued non-implementation of the Philippine Fisheries Code, issues that he says have long harmed coastal communities and weakened the country’s food security. He will be speaking on behalf of the two million Filipino fisherfolk and their families whose livelihoods are directly affected by corruption and poor governance.
Ka Dodoy also announced that the province of Zamboanga Sibugay will have a representation in tomorrow’s rally, a development he said reflects the growing resolve of local communities to stand against corruption and demand accountability.

It may be recalled that Ballon likewise took part in the September 21, 2025 rally, leading the delegation of fisherfolk and farmers.
Ballon currently serves as the National Chairperson of Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA), a broad national confederation of peasant, farmer, fisherfolk, indigenous peoples, rural women, and youth organizations. Known as the “Tinig ng Mangingisda” or Voice of the Fisherfolk, he has long championed sustainable fisheries, rural development, and the protection of coastal ecosystems.
Aside from his work with PAKISAMA, Ka Dodoy is also one of the convenors of the Atin Ito Coalition, a civilian-led movement of fisherfolk, volunteers, and civic groups asserting Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea and advocating for the security and safety of Filipino fisherfolk in disputed waters.
With his decades of grassroots leadership and national advocacy, Ka Dodoy’s message is expected to resonate strongly with protesters calling for transparency, accountability, and genuine reform in government spending and resource management.
