Roseller Lim Launches Second Release of Supplemental Feeding Program, Benefiting Over 2,000 Young Learners

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Local Government Unit of Roseller Lim, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), has started the second release of the 16th Cycle Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) for School Year 2026–2027, strengthening its commitment to improving the nutrition and well-being of young children in the municipality.

Implemented through the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Program, the initiative is funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office IX under its Transfer of Funds scheme and aims to provide nutritious meals to thousands of children enrolled in Child Development Centers (CDCs).

A total of 2,180 children aged 2 years old up to 4 years and 11 months from various CDCs across Roseller Lim are set to benefit from the program, which provides regular hot meals designed to address nutritional needs during the crucial early years of childhood.

The supplementary feeding initiative seeks to improve the nutritional status of preschool learners, support their physical and cognitive development, and help prepare them for formal schooling by ensuring that children receive proper nourishment while participating in early childhood education programs.

The successful implementation of the program is made possible through the active involvement of Child Development Workers (CDWs) and parents, who work together in meal preparation, food distribution, monitoring, and documentation. Their participation also ensures that proper food safety, sanitation, and quality standards are observed throughout the feeding activities.

Municipal Mayor Engr. Michael A. Piodena emphasized that the program reflects the strong collaboration between the LGU, DSWD, CDWs, parents, and other stakeholders in advancing programs that prioritize children's health, nutrition, and overall development.

The mayor added that investing in early childhood care remains a vital component of building a stronger community, as providing children with proper nutrition and support during their formative years lays the foundation for better learning outcomes and a healthier future generation.

Through the continued implementation of the Supplementary Feeding Program, the LGU Roseller Lim reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that every child has access to essential support needed for growth, development, and educational readiness.
