Araw ng Zamboanga Sibugay Agri-Trade Fair Opens, Showcasing Strength of 16 Municipalities

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay - The Araw ng Zamboanga Sibugay Agri-Trade Fair officially opened at the Provincial Capitol Complex with Governor Ann K. Hofer leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony, signaling the start of one of the most anticipated highlights of the province’s Silver Anniversary celebration.

Sixteen municipalities erected symbolic and artistically designed booths that now line the Capitol grounds, each proudly showcasing their local products, agricultural crops, culture, and the unique identity of their people. The booths serve not only as exhibition spaces but as vibrant representations of the province’s agricultural richness and cultural diversity.

Governor Hofer, joined by First District Congressman Atty. Marlo C. Bancoro, formally opened the fair in the presence of early visitors and provincial employees who gathered to witness the ceremony. Their presence underscored the provincial government’s continuing commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and supporting local producers.

Also present during the opening activity was Department of Agriculture Regional Executive Director Dir. Vener L. Dilig, whose attendance highlighted the partnership between national and provincial agencies in promoting agricultural development.

Among the other distinguished guests were Board Member Boyet Cabilao Yambao who currently chairs the Committee on Agriculture in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and former Vice Governor Rey Andre Olegario. Several municipal mayors also showed their support, including Mayor Castillo of Titay, Mayor Edem of Talusan, Mayor Ruste of Olutanga, Mayor Balladares of Kabasalan, and Mayor Mendoza of Payao, along with other local officials.

The Agri-Trade Fair features a friendly yet highly anticipated booth competition among participating local government units. According to Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Wesley Sayson, substantial cash prizes await the winners, further encouraging creativity and excellence in showcasing their municipalities.

This year’s prizes are as follows:

• 1st Prize – P350,000

• 2nd Prize – P300,000

• 3rd Prize – P250,000

• 4th Prize – P200,000

• 5th Prize – P190,000

• 6th Prize – P180,000

• 7th Prize – P170,000

• 8th Prize – P160,000

• 9th Prize – P150,000

• 10th Prize – P140,000

• 11th Prize – P130,000

• Five consolation prizes – P120,000 each

The Agri-Trade Fair is expected to draw residents, visitors, and investors throughout the celebration period, offering them a glimpse of Zamboanga Sibugay’s agricultural potential, local delicacies, handicrafts, and innovative products.

More than a competition, the fair serves as a platform for farmers, entrepreneurs, and local artisans to gain exposure, expand markets, and celebrate the province’s continuing growth in agriculture and trade.
