Alleged Drug Peddler Arrested in Siay Buy-Bust; ₱13,600 Worth of Suspected Shabu Seized
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay - An alleged drug personality was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Siay Municipal Police Station on Saturday afternoon, July 18, as authorities intensified their campaign against the illegal drug trade in the municipality.
Police identified the suspect only by the alias "JR," a 47-year-old married painter and a resident of Purok C-1, Sitio Dungcaan, Barangay Lumbayao, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The operation was carried out at around 4:50 p.m. in Purok 1, Barangay Bato, Siay, where the suspect was apprehended after allegedly selling suspected illegal drugs to an undercover police operative.
Recovered from the suspect was one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet believed to have been sold during the buy-bust transaction, along with six additional heat-sealed plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.
The confiscated suspected illegal drugs had a combined estimated weight of approximately two grams with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱13,600.

Authorities also recovered various drug paraphernalia from the suspect, including a blue disposable lighter, an improvised hose pipe or "tooter," a rolled aluminum foil, an improvised car brake bulb, and a cigarette wrapped in aluminum foil, all believed to have been used for the consumption of illegal drugs.
Also seized during the operation were the buy-bust money consisting of two ₱500 bills used as boodle money and two genuine ₱100 bills serving as marked money for the transaction.
Police said all confiscated items will be submitted to the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Forensic Unit for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examination.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Siay Municipal Police Station and is undergoing proper documentation and disposition. Appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against him.
The Siay Municipal Police Station, under the leadership of PLT Randy M. Balingit, Officer-in-Charge, reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations and sustaining law enforcement efforts to rid the municipality of prohibited substances.
Police also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting authorities by reporting suspected illegal drug activities in their communities as part of the collective effort to maintain peace, order, and public safety in Siay.
