BFP-Zamboanga Sibugay Again Named Best Provincial Fire Office in Region IX
IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — The Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal (OPFM)–Zamboanga Sibugay has once again earned recognition as the Best Provincial Fire Office in Region IX, adding another significant achievement to its growing list of accomplishments.
Under the leadership of FSUPT Reggy A. Olmedo, DSC, Acting Provincial Fire Marshal, the OPFM-Zamboanga Sibugay received the distinction during the Culmination Program of the 35th BFP Anniversary held on August 27, 2026, at the Provincial Capitol Atrium in Ipil Heights, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Zamboanga Sibugay Vice Governor Richard Olegario joined FSUPT Olmedo in receiving the recognition, representing the provincial government in celebrating the achievement of the province’s fire protection personnel.
In recognition of its outstanding performance, the provincial fire office received a Special Recognition Award and Medalya ng Kasanayan for being named the region’s top provincial fire office.
The latest recognition reflects the collective efforts of the men and women of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Zamboanga Sibugay, whose work extends beyond firefighting and emergency response to fire prevention, preparedness, public safety, and community engagement.
ADVERTISEMENTThe achievement becomes even more remarkable following another major honor recently received by the provincial office.
Prior to its regional recognition, OPFM-Zamboanga Sibugay was also named the Best Provincial Fire Office in the entire country, emerging on top of 81 Provincial Fire Offices nationwide under the recognition program of the BFP National Headquarters.
The twin victories—Best Provincial Fire Office in Region IX and Best Provincial Fire Office nationwide—underscore the high level of performance, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated by the provincial fire service.
For FSUPT Olmedo and his personnel, the awards represent more than institutional recognition. They are a tribute to the dedication of firefighters and support personnel who remain ready to respond to emergencies, conduct fire prevention campaigns, strengthen disaster preparedness, and protect communities across the province.
The recognition also highlights the importance of strong cooperation between the BFP and the Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay, as both institutions work toward improving public safety and emergency response capabilities.
The BFP-Zamboanga Sibugay emphasized that these accomplishments are not the achievement of one individual or one office alone, but the result of the collective dedication, discipline, competence, and teamwork of the entire provincial fire service.
From every firefighter who answers an emergency call to every personnel working behind the scenes, each has played a part in earning these distinctions.
The awards now stand as a testament to an organization that continues to pursue excellence while remaining committed to its most important mission:
protecting lives, safeguarding communities, and serving the people of Zamboanga Sibugay.
For every fire station that remains ready, every firefighter who puts service before self, and every community made safer through prevention and preparedness, this victory belongs to the entire BFP-Zamboanga Sibugay family.
