Musa urges Alicianons to stay alert amid probe into suspected illegal online operations

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay- Former councilor and Ex Officio Board Member Galwas Musa has called on residents of Alicia to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities as an investigation continues into a compound in Barangay Tandiong Muslim that was reportedly being used for illegal online activities.

Musa issued the appeal on October 4, following a law enforcement operation that resulted in the apprehension of dozens of Chinese nationals and the seizure of a large volume of electronic equipment reportedly found inside the facility.

Among the items reportedly recovered were mobile phones, computer monitors, laptops and SIM cards, raising concerns over the possible use of the site for online scams or other unlawful digital operations.

Rather than allowing the incident to divide the community, Musa urged Alicianons to treat it as a reminder of their responsibility to remain watchful and report suspicious activities to authorities.

As an ordinary resident of Alicia, Musa said he strongly condemned the reported illegal POGO-related activities and appealed to fellow residents not to ignore conduct that could threaten the peace and security of the municipality.

He encouraged the public to immediately coordinate with the proper authorities whenever they encounter activities they believe may be unlawful, stressing that community cooperation is essential in protecting Alicia from individuals who may attempt to exploit the municipality for illegal purposes.

The operation has also prompted questions about how such a facility allegedly came to operate within the community and how long the suspected activities had been taking place.

Authorities have not yet released a complete account of the operation or conclusively established the nature and extent of the activities allegedly being conducted at the site. The investigation remains ongoing, and any individuals found to have violated Philippine laws will have to face the appropriate proceedings and due process.

For now, Musa's message to the community is clear: residents should remain alert, report suspicious activities, and work with authorities in keeping Alicia peaceful, secure and free from illegal operations.
