Ipil LGU, Security Forces Step Up Measures Amid Public Concerns; Police Assure Town Remains Safe
IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay -The Local Government Unit of Ipil, together with key security and government agencies, has intensified its peace and order initiatives following recent incidents that raised concern among residents and online communities.
An emergency coordination meeting was convened by the LGU in partnership with the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC), bringing together local officials, law enforcement agencies, and sectoral leaders to formulate a unified and decisive response to potential security threats. The meeting was presided over by Mayor Ramses Troy Olegario and attended by representatives from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, PDEA, Philippine Coast Guard, Maritime Police, BJMP, BFP, DILG, LDRRMO, and various community stakeholders, including Indigenous Peoples and cooperative groups.
The discussions underscored a whole-of-government and whole-of-community approach, emphasizing that maintaining peace and order is a shared responsibility between authorities and the public.

Dasugo, Provincial Director of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, announced the deployment of additional police personnel to Ipil to further strengthen police visibility and deterrence. He also addressed public concerns fueled by social media discussions, assuring residents that Ipil remains safe.
“No matter what comments are posted on social media, I assure the people of Ipil that the situation is under control and that the municipality remains safe,” Dasugo said, noting that police actions are based on verified information and coordinated intelligence.
Meanwhile, PMAJ Sali, Acting Chief of the Ipil Municipal Police Station, said intensified security operations are already underway. These include expanded checkpoints, increased roving patrols using both vehicles and motorcycles, particularly during nighttime hours, to deter criminal activity, secure possible exit routes, and support ongoing manhunt operations.
In his closing statement, Mayor Olegario thanked all participating agencies, sectoral representatives, and stakeholders who attended the emergency meeting, acknowledging their continued commitment to public safety.
“This effort is about protecting our people,” Olegario said. “I thank all our partners for their cooperation and swift response. I also continuously appeal to the people of Ipil to remain vigilant and to work with us in preventing future crimes in our municipality. Peace and order can only be sustained if we stand united as one community.” The mayor reaffirmed that the LGU, in close coordination with the MPOC and partner agencies, will continue proactive measures to ensure that peace and order are not merely promised, but consistently upheld for the safety and well-being of all Ipil residents.
