YES Team and Deaf Community Celebrate the Holidays with Gov. Ann Hofer

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay - In a heartwarming start to the holiday season, Governor Ann Hofer hosted an intimate gathering for two key groups in the province, the YES Team and the Deaf community of Zamboanga Sibugay on December 10, 2025, at the Macha Capitol.

Members of the YES Team joined Gov. Hofer for a simple early Christmas dinner, which also celebrated the early birthday of Mrs. Ofelia Thompson, one of the group’s convenors.

Although many of the original members have already passed on, a few remain to carry the spirit of the team. The YES Team played a pivotal role in the creation of Zamboanga Sibugay, working closely with the late Congressman George Hofer to carve the province out of Zamboanga del Sur’s 3rd district, laying the foundation for its political and administrative framework.

During the dinner, Gov. Hofer expressed her gratitude to the remaining members and highlighted the team’s historic contributions to the province.

“This gathering is a chance to celebrate not only the season but also the legacy of those who made Zamboanga Sibugay what it is today,” she said.

In the same dinner celebration, Gov. Hofer also invited the Deaf community, a yearly tradition she continues to uphold. The gathering provided an opportunity for the Deaf community to share a meal, celebrate the holidays, and enjoy a warm, inclusive environment.

The gathering underscored Gov. Hofer’s commitment to community engagement and public service, fostering unity and honoring the contributions of diverse groups across the province.
