Chinese National Arrested in Ipil Leads Series of Raids vs Immigration, Fraud Violations
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay- A Chinese national was arrested in Ipil following a series of joint law enforcement operations across the Zamboanga Peninsula targeting immigration and fraud-related offenses.
In a coordinated operation on April 16, 2026, personnel from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Mindanao, in collaboration with the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP), troops under Joint Task Force ZAMPELAN, and the Philippine National Police (PNP), apprehended a Chinese national identified as Lin Wenyu, also known as Anson Lais Lim, in Barangay Lower Taway.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly misrepresented himself as a Filipino citizen to obtain government-issued identification and corporate documents, placing him in violation of Philippine immigration laws and the Revised Penal Code on falsification. During the operation, law enforcers also confiscated suspected smuggled items, including exotic animals. The suspect was subsequently turned over to the Ipil Municipal Police Station for proper documentation and legal proceedings.

Yegor Rey P. Barroquillo Jr., commander of the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, commended the joint efforts of the military, immigration authorities, and police, citing the operations as a strong demonstration of inter-agency coordination.
He emphasized that the series of arrests reflects the government’s continued commitment to safeguarding national security, maintaining public order, and enforcing immigration laws across the region.
