Driver Injured After Camanga Bridge Collapses Beneath Loaded Dump Truck in Titay
Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay — A truck driver was injured after the "Tulay ng Pangulo" in Purok African Daisy, Barangay Camanga, Titay suddenly collapsed while a loaded dump truck was crossing the structure on Monday afternoon, July 20, 2026.
According to the initial police investigation, the incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. when a white six-wheeler dump truck bearing Plate No. 2738 KAS fell into the river after the bridge gave way.
The vehicle, owned by Marlo Delos Reyes, was being driven by Rodolfo L. Ramos, 47, married, and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Titay. He was the lone occupant of the truck during the incident.

Police said the dump truck had departed from Barangay Palomoc and was en route to Barangay Camanga, carrying approximately 16 cubic meters of Item 200 crushed rock (gravel) intended for a road concreting project in the barangay.
Upon reaching the bridge, locally known as "Tulay ng Pangulo," the structure suddenly collapsed while the heavily loaded truck was traversing it, sending the vehicle crashing into the river below.
The accident left the dump truck heavily damaged, while the bridge sustained complete structural failure, making it impassable to both vehicles and pedestrians.
Ramos suffered injuries to different parts of his body and was immediately rescued before being transported to Dr. George T. Hofer Memorial Hospital in Barangay Tenan, Ipil, for medical treatment. Authorities said no other individuals were injured in the incident.
Barangay Camanga, one of Titay's interior barangays, relies on the bridge as a vital access route for residents, agricultural transport, and infrastructure projects. Its collapse is expected to significantly affect mobility and the delivery of goods and services while authorities determine alternative routes.
The Titay Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO), in coordination with the local government, police, and other concerned agencies, has begun assessing the extent of the damage and implementing measures to ensure public safety.
Authorities are also conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the bridge collapse and to evaluate the structural condition of the facility as plans for immediate intervention and rehabilitation are being prepared.
