Municipality of Ipil Soon to Boast Hi-Tech CCTV System
IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY — In an effort toward strengthening public safety and modernizing local governance, the Municipality of Ipil has installed its first high-technology Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system designed to enhance security and surveillance across its bustling commercial district.
The municipality has recently acquired a state-of-the-art CCTV system worth ₱3.4 million. The advanced cameras are equipped with facial recognition, night vision, speed detection, and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. They can also capture crystal-clear images from as far as 300 meters, continuously recording still images to aid law enforcement and emergency response teams in monitoring real-time activity.
Mayor Ramses Troy Olegario expressed confidence that this development will mark a major milestone in the town’s pursuit of peace and order.
“Security is of utmost priority in Ipil, especially as we continue to grow as a developing municipality and as the center of trade and commerce not only in Zamboanga Sibugay but also in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula,” Mayor Olegario said. “By investing in a modern CCTV system, we’re ensuring that our residents, visitors, and investors can feel safer and more confident in our community.”
Installation of the first batch of cameras will focus on the central business district, where foot and vehicle traffic are heaviest. These areas include key intersections, marketplaces, and major thoroughfares.

According to Mayor Olegario, this initiative is just the beginning. The local government plans to expand CCTV coverage across the entire municipality next year, with additional funding of P5 million allocated through the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO).
“We envision an Ipil that is not only progressive but also secure. Through technology and innovation, we can ensure that development goes hand in hand with safety,” the mayor added. He also disclosed that even the manufacturers of the cameras could not believe that a small town like Ipil would invest in such equipment because in the past, only advanced cities ordered from them.
The installation is set on Friday, and once completed, Ipil’s hi-tech CCTV system is expected to serve as a model for other municipalities in the Zamboanga Peninsula looking to integrate digital solutions into public safety and local governance.
