Zamboanga Sibugay NSPC Delegates Honored in Dinner Hosted by Cong. Marly Hofer

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, April 16, 2026 - Delegates from Zamboanga Sibugay competing in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2026 were warmly welcomed and honored during a dinner meeting hosted by Congresswoman Marly Hofer T. Hasim on April 14, 2026, as she reaffirmed her continued support for student journalists and educators representing the province on the national stage.

The gathering, held in Ormoc City where this year’s NSPC is being conducted, brought together student participants, coaches, and education officials in a show of solidarity and encouragement as they take part in one of the country’s most prestigious academic competitions.

Also present at the event was Ronelo Al K. Firmo, the newly appointed Regional Director of the Department of Education (DepEd) Zamboanga Peninsula, along with Dr. Eugenio B. Penales and other personnel from DepEd Region IX.

In her message, Hasim expressed hope that the strong backing from provincial leaders would inspire the delegates to give their best in their respective contests. She emphasized that regardless of the outcome, the province takes pride in the students’ achievement of reaching the national level.

“Dako na kaayo nga kadungganan nga nakaabot mo sa national stage. Padayon lang sa inyong paningkamot,” she conveyed, underscoring her admiration for the students’ dedication and hard work.

The congresswoman was joined by her family during the event, who also showed their support for her youngest child, one of the participants in the Editorial Writing–Elementary category.

The NSPC, organized by the Department of Education, is currently being held in Ormoc City, Leyte from April 13 to 17, 2026, gathering top campus journalists from across the country to compete in various writing and media categories.
