IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay - Mayor Ramses Troy D. Olegario announced that the Super Health Center located in Barangay Makilas is now in the final stage of preparation and is scheduled to officially open this January, marking a significant milestone in the municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access for its residents.

Mayor Olegario expressed his satisfaction over the long-awaited development, recalling that the facility’s structure had been nearly completed as early as March this year. However, despite the readiness of the building, the center could not be opened due to the absence of a budget for its electrification, a crucial requirement for the delivery of medical services.

Upon assuming office, Mayor Olegario made healthcare a top priority of his administration, in line with the development agenda of the Provincial Government of Zamboanga Sibugay under the leadership of Governor Ann Hofer. Recognizing the urgent need to make the Super Health Center fully operational, the mayor immediately sought the assistance of the provincial government to address the electrification concern.

Governor Hofer responded positively to the request. Through the efforts of Provincial Administrator Atty. Jay Millena, the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) allocated ₱1.8 million to fund the electrification of the Makilas Super Health Center. This support effectively removed the final obstacle to the facility’s opening.

Once operational, the Super Health Center is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening primary healthcare services in Ipil. It will help ease the growing number of outpatient department (OPD) cases at the Dr. George T. Hofer Medical Center in Tenan by providing accessible medical consultations, basic diagnostic services, and preventive care closer to the communities.

Mayor Olegario emphasized that the opening of the facility reflects the strong partnership between the municipal and provincial governments and their shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of the people of Ipil.

In addition, the mayor announced that should the proposed bill of Congresswoman Marle Hofer Hasim for the establishment of another hospital in the Second District of Zamboanga Sibugay be approved, the planned hospital will be located in Buluan. This, he said, would further strengthen the healthcare network in the district and bring vital medical services closer to underserved communities.

The upcoming opening of the Makilas Super Health Center underscores the local government’s dedication to ensuring accessible, responsive, and quality healthcare services for all constituents, reinforcing health as a cornerstone of sustainable development in Ipil.
