Mayor Olegario Announces Free Entrance at Ipil Christmas Carnival Today and Tomorrow
IPIL, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY — Residents of Ipil received an early holiday treat as Mayor Ramses Troy Olegario announced that entrance to the Ipil Christmas Carnival will be free today and tomorrow, December 10 and 11, offering families, children, and all carnival-goers two days of complimentary access to the town’s festive attraction.
Mayor Olegario said the free admission is his Christmas gift to the people of Ipil, especially “the young and the young at heart,” who eagerly look forward to the carnival as a space of joy, bonding, and community celebration during the holiday season.
When asked whether the recent social media discussions regarding the ₱30 entrance fee influenced his decision, the mayor acknowledged that “in a way, it was my response.” He added that if it were possible to make everything free for the people of Ipil, he would gladly do so. However, he emphasized that the carnival’s private operators also need to recover expenses for freight, logistics, and the overall cost of setting up the attraction in Ipil.

The mayor also clarified that only the entrance fee has been waived. Guests who wish to enjoy the rides will still need to pay the regular rates for each attraction.
The Ipil Christmas Carnival, known for its lights, rides, food stalls, and Christmas displays, has become a beloved tradition for the people of Ipil. With the waived entrance fees, more families are expected to enjoy the holiday atmosphere without worrying about admission costs.
The free entrance offer is valid only for today and tomorrow, and residents are encouraged to take advantage of the mayor’s holiday gesture.
