Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay — Nearly six months after the fatal shooting of Department of Education Supervisor Rey Camaingking in Alicia and two days after the first arrest, police have arrested another suspect wanted in connection with the case.

The suspect was taken into custody on October 7 by operatives of the Olutanga Municipal Police Station in Barangay Galas, Olutanga, following the implementation of a warrant of arrest for murder.

The arrest adds another development to the police investigation into the killing of Camaingking, who was shot dead on April 30, 2026, in Barangay Guicam, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Police have continued to pursue individuals allegedly linked to the killing as investigators work to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the attack and establish the participation, if any, of those named in the case.

The latest apprehension was carried out by the Olutanga police as part of their efforts to locate persons with outstanding warrants within their area of responsibility.

Following his arrest, the suspect was placed under police custody and will be subjected to the required procedures before being turned over to the appropriate authorities for the next stage of the legal process.

Police have not released further details about the circumstances of the arrest or the evidence linking the suspect to Camaingking’s death, pending the continuing investigation.

The case remains active as law enforcement authorities work to account for all individuals who may have been involved in the killing and determine their respective roles.

Camaingking’s death had prompted a sustained police operation in the province, with authorities earlier identifying individuals of interest as part of the case build-up.

The latest arrest is expected to help investigators further develop the murder case and pursue other leads that may emerge during the proceedings.

Authorities reiterated that the arrested individual is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The case will proceed through the appropriate legal channels as investigators continue gathering evidence and establishing the facts surrounding the killing.
