PRO-9 Acting Regional Director Quilates Leads Ceremonial Turnover at Zamboanga Sibugay PPO

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay - The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office (PPO) hosted a “Talk to Men” formation and a Ceremonial Turnover of Motorcycle on December 3, 2025 at its headquarters in Sanito, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay with the Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9), Police Brigadier General Edwin A. Quilates, serving as the guest of honor and speaker.

The program began at 8:00 in the morning., with the Deputy Provincial Director for Administration PLTCol Joseph Maulad delivering the welcome address and presenting to the Regional Director the full force of the Zamboanga Sibugay PPO. The formation gathered officers from across the province, including the 16 Chiefs of Police representing all municipalities of Zamboanga Sibugay.

During the ceremony, the Regional Director formally turned over one unit of motorcycle, 45 pieces of raincoats, and four assault rifles to the Provincial Police Office. The equipment, according to officials, aims to enhance mobility, operational capability, and field readiness of law enforcement units in the province.

Provincial Director PCOL Barnard Danie Dasugo introduced the guest of honor before the regional chief delivered his message to the police personnel. In his speech, the Acting Regional Director highlighted the legacy of National Hero Andres Bonifacio, emphasizing his leadership of the Katipunan (KKK) and his enduring example of courage, nationalism, and service to the Filipino people.

He reminded the troops that they must be the first to obey the law, love their uniform, uphold integrity, protect and serve the people, and safeguard the reputation of the police service at all costs. He urged all personnel to have the courage to do what is right and to always do the right thing at all times, and stressed the importance of pursuing excellence in all areas of service, noting that this is what the people deserve, especially since their salaries have recently been doubled. He emphasized that their primary role is to protect the people so they may safely enjoy the fruits of democracy, calling on everyone to perform their duties with discipline, honesty, and dedication.

As part of the turnover, a brand-new motorcycle was handed over and officially received by the Chief of Police of the Municipality of Alicia, enhancing the unit’s mobility and operational readiness.

Officials from PRO-9, officers of the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office, and municipal police chiefs were in attendance during the event.

The turnover ceremony forms part of the continuing efforts of PRO-9 to strengthen law enforcement operations and community safety initiatives across the Zamboanga Peninsula region.
