Christmas Eve Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral Draws Large Crowd of Faithful in Ipil
IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay - Catholic faithful from across Ipil gathered in large numbers on Christmas Eve for the traditional Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral, presided over by Most Rev. Glenn M. Corsiga, D.D. The celebration drew a jampacked congregation of believers, young and old,who came together to welcome the birth of Christ as one faith community.
Prior to the Mass, the Cathedral grounds came alive with the Vespers and the Panunuluyan, a cherished Filipino Catholic tradition that reenacts the humble journey of Mary and Joseph in search of shelter on the night of Jesus’ birth. The Panunuluyan was beautifully staged by the Youth of St. Joseph Parish, whose performance added depth, reverence, and youthful devotion to the evening’s observance.
Inside the Cathedral, the atmosphere was one of prayer, reflection, and togetherness. Families filled the pews, many choosing to spend Christmas Eve in worship, gratitude, and quiet moments with loved ones. The overwhelming turnout reflected the strong faith of the Catholic community in Ipil and the continued importance of long-held Christmas traditions.
