Zamboanga Sibugay Delivers ₱2 Million in Aid for Earthquake Victims in Cebu Province

Cebu Province Governor Pamela Baricuatro expressed her gratitude to the delegation from the Province of Zamboanga Sibugay who personally went to the Cebu Provincial Capitol to hand over 2 million worth of supplies for families affected by the earthquake in the northern part of Cebu.

The delegation was led by Vice Governor Richard Olegario, 1st District Board Member Dr. Ralph Hofer Delos Santos, and 2nd District Board Member Pava Hofer. Zamboanga Sibugay’s donation is a significant help toward the recovery and rehabilitation of areas affected by the calamity.

During the turnover, basketball legend Ramon Fernandez and his wife Karla Kintanar Fernandez were also present to show their support. Governor Baricuatro and the entire Capitol expressed deep gratitude to the people of Zamboanga Sibugay for their generosity and genuine spirit of unity and compassion toward their fellow Filipinos. Meanwhile, in a demonstration of solidarity, the municipal government of Payao and the Department of Education (DepEd) district of Payao have dispatched humanitarian aid to communities in Northern Cebu devastated by a recent strong earthquake.

The joint relief eff ort provided essential food packs to affected residents in the municipalities of San Remigio and Medellin. Each pack contained rice, dried fish, and noodles.

According to Salvador “Sir Buddy” Arquileta of DepEd Payao, the initiative was born from a discussion between local officials and educators during the World Teachers’ Day celebration.

The gesture of support, which crossed the sea from the Zamboanga Peninsula, was deeply felt by its recipients. Ronal Sortida, a former resident of Payao who now lives in Medellin, Cebu, expressed his gratitude in a social media comment.
