₱6.8-M Worth of Shabu Recovered in Tungawan Search Warrant Operation
with Reports from Ely DumabocIpil, Zamboanga Sibugay (April 16, 2026) - Authorities delivered a significant blow to the ongoing anti-illegal drug campaign after seizing approximately ₱6.8 million worth of suspected shabu during a search warrant operation in Purok Santan, Libertad, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, on the afternoon of April 15, 2026.
At around 4:00 PM, joint operatives from the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 9 (RDEU9), led by PLT Jun Socrates H. Vios under the supervision of PLTCOL Moh Madzdie-Aziz K. Mukaram, Chief of RDEU9, implemented Search Warrant No. 315.
The warrant targeted a black Mitsubishi Montero Sport (plate number NKJ 5201), a vehicle previously confiscated during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Ipil on March 31, 2026. During that earlier operation, suspects Almabarak Sansaluna Akmad and Al Ha Afid Bangon Abdul, both classified as High-Value Individuals (HVIs), attempted to flee using the same vehicle before being apprehended in Tungawan.
ADVERTISEMENTA thorough inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of a tea bag container concealing a vacuum-sealed plastic sachet filled with a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with an estimated weight of one kilogram. The operation highlighted strong inter-agency coordination among the police, military, and PDEA Zamboanga Sibugay.
All recovered evidence is currently undergoing proper documentation and will be presented before the issuing court before being transferred to the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination to verify its composition, purity, and exact weight.
Meanwhile, the suspects remain in custody and are set to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
