At the heart of the event is the “Dapat Isa Lang” People’s Initiative, which advocates for legislation limiting the concentration of political power within families and promoting broader representation in public office. Organizers describe the movement as a call for greater accountability, transparency, and equal opportunity in leadership.
Framed in line with the celebration of Philippine Independence Day, the initiative emphasizes the idea of restoring the power of political choice to ordinary citizens through peaceful and participatory means.
The Zamboanga City chapter of “Dapat Isa Lang” also underscored that the signing activity symbolizes a collective stand against entrenched political structures, urging the public to support reforms that aim to strengthen democratic institutions.
With its message resonating across sectors, “Dapat Isa Lang” emerges as the central force of the June 12 gathering, positioning the National Signing Day as both a civic expression and a renewed call for political change in the country.
