Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay , April 19, 2026- A high-ranking official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) received full honors upon his arrival in this southern port city on Saturday, underscoring the region’s continuing focus on strengthened police administration and operational readiness.

PLTGEN Bernard M. Banac, the PNP’s Deputy Chief for Administration, was warmly welcomed at Zamboanga International Airport by PBGEN Edwin A. Quilates, regional director of the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9), alongside PCOL Fidel B. Fortaleza Jr., chief of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO).

Police personnel from the city office were deployed to secure the arrival area, ensuring a smooth and orderly reception for the visiting official. Authorities said the coordinated effort reflected the police force’s readiness to handle high-level movements while maintaining public safety.

While details of Banac’s visit were not immediately disclosed, such engagements typically involve administrative inspections, consultations with field commanders, and assessments of ongoing peace and order initiatives. As Deputy Chief for Administration, Banac oversees key internal functions of the PNP, including personnel management, logistics, and institutional development—areas critical to sustaining operational efficiency across regions.

PRO-9, which supervises police operations across the Zamboanga Peninsula, has been intensifying efforts to bolster security coordination amid evolving local challenges. Zamboanga City, a strategic hub in Mindanao, continues to be a focal point for law enforcement operations due to its economic activity and proximity to maritime borders.

In a brief statement, the ZCPO reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all official activities within its jurisdiction. “The Zamboanga City Police Office remains steadfast in its mandate to maintain peace and order through close coordination with partner units and stakeholders,” the office said.

The visit is seen as part of the PNP leadership’s broader push to strengthen field operations and reinforce administrative support systems, particularly in key regions outside Metro Manila.
