Police Intensify Manhunt After Identifying Suspect in Killing of Marazzi Restaurant Owner
IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay - Police authorities have identified one of the suspects in the fatal shooting of the owner of the well-known Marazzi restaurant, following continuous and intensified operations by the Ipil Municipal Police Station.
According to investigators, the breakthrough came through careful examination of CCTV footage taken inside the victim’s residence at the time of the incident. Crucial details were captured on video including the helmet worn by the gunman, the motorcycle used in the escape, and the suspect’s physical build enabled authorities to establish his identity.
The suspect has been described as an adult male. However, his name is being withheld pending his arrest, as law enforcement officers continue their pursuit of both the identified suspect and his alleged accomplice.
The fatal shooting occurred on the evening of February 4, 2026, inside the victim’s home, sending shockwaves across the municipality. The victim was identified as Modonna Mohammad Sablani, 45, a widow and proprietor of the popular Marazzi restaurant in Ipil. Her death has deeply affected the local community, where she was known as a businesswoman.

Police officials assured the public that operations will not cease until all individuals responsible for the crime are apprehended. In response to a series of shooting incidents in the municipality, security measures have been further heightened to prevent similar acts of violence and to ensure the safety and peace of the community.
Ipil Mayor Ramses Troy D. Olegario also called on residents to remain vigilant and to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
