CONG. MARLY HOFER-HASIM AMONG 98 LAWMAKERS RECOGNIZED FOR PERFECT PLENARY ATTENDANCE

Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay— Second District Representative Marlesa “Doc Marly” Hofer-Hasim is among the 98 members of the House of Representatives set to be formally recognized for recording perfect attendance in all 39 plenary sessions during the First Regular Session of the 20th Congress.

The recognition is covered by House Resolution No. 1394, which commends lawmakers who completed every plenary session from July 28, 2025 to June 3, 2026. The resolution was filed on August 25 by Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan, and House Ethics and Privileges Committee Chairman JC Abalos.

According to the House of Representatives, the 98 honorees include 78 district representatives and 20 party-list representatives. Each is set to receive an official commendation recognizing the attendance record.

For Cong. Hofer-Hasim, the distinction represents more than simply having a complete attendance record. Her consistent presence in plenary sessions means being there when proposed laws, national policies, appropriations, and issues affecting constituents are debated and acted upon.

As representative of the Second District of Zamboanga Sibugay, her presence in the chamber provides an opportunity to bring the concerns and priorities of her constituents into national discussions and legislative deliberations.

The House leadership itself emphasized that perfect attendance should not merely be viewed as an award. Ethics and Privileges Committee Chairman JC Abalos described it as a reminder of the standard expected from elected representatives, saying that showing up and doing the work should ideally be the norm for every public servant.

Abalos also noted that the resolution represents a broader effort to promote ethical conduct in Congress—not only by addressing misconduct, but also by recognizing lawmakers who demonstrate discipline and commitment to their responsibilities.

For the people of Zamboanga Sibugay’s Second District, Hofer-Hasim’s attendance record carries a simple message: their representative was present when Congress was doing its work.

Every plenary session presents an opportunity to listen, participate, deliberate, and make decisions that can have consequences far beyond the walls of the House.

Perfect attendance, therefore, is not the measure of everything a legislator accomplishes—but it is one visible indication of presence, discipline, and commitment to the responsibilities entrusted by the electorate.

As Congress moves forward into the succeeding sessions of the 20th Congress, the recognition challenges lawmakers to sustain that same level of commitment.
